The Royal Britannian Guard
Thank you for your interest in joining the Royal Britannian Guard (RBG). The King thanks you for your service. To join the RBG, one only needs to actively participate in Sonoma events. For each event that one actively participates in, he or she will receive RBG marks. Once a member of the RBG receives enough marks, he or she will be granted a notable rank in the RBG.
- Recruit – Entry level position where citizens learn the basics – 10 marks
- Scout – Scouts are sent ahead in battle to report on potential threats – 15 marks
- Watchman – Watchman act as lookouts in the towns of Britannia – 20 marks
- Garrison – Garrisons are the first line of defense in protecting our towns – 25 marks
- Squire – a Knight’s Squire on the path to Knighthood – 35 marks
- Knight – A formidable warrior and main offensive force in the RBG – 50 marks
- ArchKnight – A Knight that has proved to be exemplary in combat – 75 marks
- Elder Knight – Elders council and train young Knights and Squires – 100 marks
- Knight Crusader – Crusaders lead the charge into battle – 125 marks

- Distinct – A distinct rank and title based on one’s primary qualities – 300 marks
To gain RBG marks, one must actively participate in battles (EM combat events), contests (Scavenger hunts, Archery tournaments, etc.), Governors Meetings, and Dungeon Crawls. The maximum number of marks one can receive per month is 15.
- Battles (EM Combat events): 5 marks
- Contests (mini events and RP events): 5 marks
- Governors Meetings: 5 marks
- Dungeon Crawls: 5 marks
Town halls and player events do not qualify for RBG marks.
What exactly is the RBG? The Royal Britannian Guard is a military style system designed to add a level of emerson, role play, and achievement to EM events on Sonoma.
Is there a maximum number of marks I can gain per month? Yes. There is a hard cap of fifteen RBG marks per month per person, and marks can not be traded.
When will I get my marks? The RBG marks are similar to points. They are intangible and you will not receive them, in game. You can email or chat with the EM to discuss how many RBG marks you have at any time.
How will I be recognized at an event if I’m on a different character? If an alternate character is at an event, the character must state the name of their primary character to gain marks for that character. For example, if I’m on a character named Blackthorn but my main character is Chimaera, I must let the EM know that at the time of the event by simply saying “Chimaera” at the beginning or end of the event, so it is recorded in the EM’s journal.
How am I recognized as active? Simply attending the events and staying hidden until the end does not qualify as active. If the EM can’t see you, he can’t give you credit for being there. The EM will take several screenshots throughout the event using “all names” and at the end of the event compare that with his recorded journal. Active players are those that have been seen throughout the event – not just at the beginning and at the end.
I feel that I have not received my fair number of RBG marks. If you feel the number of marks is less than what is reflected, please discuss this with the EM, and he will review your participation.
When do we receive our ranks? There will be three RBG ranking ceremonies per year: At the beginning of January, May, and September.
Can I keep my current rank? Yes. You can keep your current rank as long as you like. You will continue to receive RBG marks and can change your rank to a higher rank at any ranking ceremony.
Please reach out to emChimaera@gmail.com with any further questions. This page will continue to be modified and all info is subject to change.
2016 has come and gone, and I really enjoyed producing festive events in December for the brave citizens of Sonoma. We overcame alchemical radiation (though devastating) and further discovered the secrets behind the alchemical rift. Reindeer took us on a scavenger hunt through Britannia where we eventually had to defeat some very angry – and aggressive – elves. And our towns were filled with festive decorations to celebrate the holidays with delight.
For January, we have a great event lineup! We are starting off the new year to help a lonely inquisitor complete his resolution. For the alchemy arc, we will be battling the last of the aftermath of the evil alchemist’s experiment: antimatter. This event should give us a glimpse into what comes next (sneak peek below). The monthly fishing challenge will be underway as soon as January’s fish is chosen. And, the dungeon crawl will be a greater challenge than the last one, so be prepared. *evil grin*
A couple announcements: I will be redoing the reward hall this month. The design will remain the same, but the interior layout will be modified to better showcase Sonoma’s accomplishments over the years. In addition, the EM Hall in Britain SHOULD finally get some furniture, but I’d like to wait until the January meet & greet to discuss.
The monthly fishing challenge fish was selected by Lord Shadow Walker. January’s fish to catch is the Holy Mackerel. Congratulations again to our two-time winner. The plaque will be in the reward hall under November’s.
And lastly, the Royal Britannian Guard will be reinstated on Wednesday, 1/4! Additional info regarding rankings and how the system will work to follow. Commander Chimaera will be available for questions regarding the RBG following the 7pm PST event.
Here’s your monthly event lineup:
- 1/4: Wednesday @ 7pm PST: EM Event – The Inquisitor’s New Year’s Resolution
- 1/4: Wednesday @ 8pm PST: Royal Britannian Guard Q&A
- 1/8: Sunday @ 7pm PST: Governors Meeting
- 1/12: Thursday @ 7pm PST: RP Event: RBG Meeting
- 1/19: Thursday @ 6pm PST: Sonoma Town Hall Meeting
- 1/19: Thursday @ 7pm PST: Paragon Dungeon Crawl
- 1/26: Thursday @ 7pm PST: EM Event – Alchemical Energy Episode III: Antimatter
- 1/31: Tuesday @ Midnight PST: Fishing Challenge Deadline
As always, feel free to email me at emChimaera@gmail.com with any questions/comments!
What’s to come?
As King Blackthorn awoke from his nightmare, he wiped the sweat from his flush forehead and sat up in bed. The room was cold… his chambermaid allowed the fire to go out during the night. Though irritated, the dream was more pressing than scolding a foolish servant. He pulled his blanket around his shoulders.
The memories of his dream were already fleeing from his mind in a desperate attempt to force him to forget. “What was that place?” he said aloud. “I was speaking to someone… or something…” he spoke in vain trying to remember. In an instant, a flash of his memory came back to him, then was gone. But it was all he needed to remember. “What have the alchemists done?”, Blackthorn said without taking a breath. After the defeat of Eric and Tomas, he was sure the resolution would be to destroy the energy created from the alchemical rift.
In a brief moment of insight and fear, Blackthorn jumped from his bed, swung the old oak door to the hall open and motioned to his chamber guard. “Send a message to Chimaera,” he commanded with authority, “We must reinstate the Royal Guard immediately!” The guard nodded and rushed off without uttering a word. As Blackthorn returned to his room, the fireplace lit up with a snap of his fingers. As he returned to bed, Blackthorn sighed, realizing that this isn’t the end, but only just the beginning.
Lord Shadow Walker has won the monthly fishing challenge for two months in a row! His Giant Koi weighing in at 195 stones beat out the competition by 23 stones! Congratulations to our winner. Your Giant Koi colored plaque will be displayed in the reward hall for all to see!
Lord Shadow Walker, again, earns the privilege of choosing January’s fish! Please email me, drop a book in the reward hall mailbox, or ping me when I’m in-game by January 5th to let me know your choice for this month. Here is a link to available rare fish choices.

Citizens of Britannia are called to Serpent’s Hold on Thursday, Dec 22nd @ 7pm PST (10pm EST) for a festive event. Come prepared with your quickest horse for a holiday themed scavenger hunt. Also, be equipped to fight, as well. There may be a few grumps wanting to spoil your fun. Happy holidays and hope to see you tomorrow!
Citizens of Sonoma are called to arms tonight (December 7th) at 7pm PST (10pm EST) in Serpent’s Hold to investigate residual radiation, a byproduct of the alchemical energy defeated, last week. Come prepared to face a very poisonous and toxic substance.
